About Mali Relief

Mali Relief is a Muslim-led humanitarian organization committed to serving the poor, the hungry, and the vulnerable in Mali for the sake of Allah (Fi Sabilillah).

Our mission is rooted in the teachings of Islam — mercy, compassion, and the obligation to care for those in need.

Relief Fund for Mali was initiated by Masjid Al-Farooq, the fastest-growing mosque on the South Side of Chicago, to organize and coordinate relief efforts for Mali and West Africa. In this region, very few Muslim-run relief organizations operate, and our goal is to fill that gap with trustworthy, faith-based support.

Mali is a land of deep Islamic heritage — home to Timbuktu, a historic center of knowledge, and to generations of scholars and believers. Yet today, millions of Malians struggle with hunger, poverty, displacement, and limited access to healthcare. Many families live on less than $1.25 a day, and women and children bear the greatest burden.

Mali Relief was established to answer this call of duty.

Mali Relief is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (IRS EIN# 46-0608568), and all donations are tax-deductible in the United States, ensuring your contributions are handled responsibly and can benefit both those in need and you as a donor.
